I absolutely think that genz has it worse than Millennials. I wish every day my kids didnt have to grow up with social media. The problem isn't social awkwardness. They access to every piece of knowledge in their hands and dont know how to apply it to life.

yeah "gen z stare" struck me as ableist too. I know this doesn't apply to everyone, but my ADHD really impacts my ability to socialize: to even notice when someone is talking to me, to process the words they said. it comes across as rude when I'm trying very hard to be considerate. I assume it's similar if a person doesn't perform that type of social interaction regularly. all of this takes practice and guidance many people do not receive

honestly i think life has become far easier ....sure the economy is bad but the level of innovations have made so much day to day activities a breeze ..... making things easier in a sense made it harder to interact ...every generation has their own changes so Gen Z is fine ...thats just how they cope. im all the way in 92 ...and not gonna lie in my younger days i had to interract but now lol .... i dont have to cummunicate with anyone to get paid most months and i love it hehehe

I have nothing against gen z. I am just curious, they were out of school a year? maybe two? but they hung out with their families? cousins? friends? they were still part of society? then they went back to school, or college or started working. They aren't an island, isolated from everyone. How can they be so awkward? They aren't alone, 24/7 since birth with no social interaction their whole life times.

Also, the young adults they’re talking about had half of their formative years taken away from them by a global pandemic. How could you expect them to come out unphased? Honestly I feel like they’re living out the “awkward teen phase” older gen z/millennials went through in middle school except it’s not endearing to anyone bc they’re adults.

Here’s the thing tho, this whole stare thing is essentially a sensationalized trope. Someone exaggerated a niche aesthetic into a generational trait, just like how Millennials “killed bar soap” or are “ruining the housing market” or “obsessed with avocado toast”… now it’s “Gen Z is blank-staring through life”. It’s become a stereotype and now that Gen Z is hearing about it they say “what stare? I’ve never seen this, are you making it up?” Now it’s just a cycle of Millennials and Gen Z unable to communicate this effectively where both don’t realize it’s just a stereotype 💀.
