you can absolutely put too big of a tire on a vehicle. I would struggle to get heat into a set of 335s. I run with someone who has an Ariel attom who ran too big of a tire and it got slower

You have any issues running 275s? My 18x9.5 could fit 285x40R18s theoretically my 265s didn’t hit anything but fender. It was actually my wheels that would touch my sway bar up front at full lock but I think that’s from where I had to reposition it due to the electric rack I’ve showed u

I was having second thoughts about the 265 nankings on the RX-8 at stock power level

I started out with 265 fronts and then 295 squared 305 squared maxing out at about 315 squared without going even wider than the factory widebody on my car. and I'd go bigger

I mean there’s a point at which a wider tire either won’t warm up enough or hinders your ability to rotate in a corner. Neither of those limits will be hit by an extra 3-4 inches of tire. There is an ideal tire width, where wider is less grippy, but it’s pretty gd wide

I started off with a 14x6 wheel on the e30 for autocross with rt660s, WAYYYYYY too little rotational mass🤣 it'd spin every second it could. not ideal for tight course setups lol. Switched up to a 17x9 squared setup with 225 380tw and it does SIGNIFICANTLY better

I agree I run 335 squared on my mustang but I actually can not get those tires warm during an auto x, but for a road course bigger is always better

Bigger is always better, unless you can’t get them warm

Wider track is effectively lower cg. Lower cg makes pretty much everything better.

If you can't get them to heat up, or if you have to compromise suspension and alignment to do it. For small, underpowered cars, going too big can hurt straight line performance without giving enough advantage in the corners to make up the difference.
