I just recently cared for a 3 y/o in a car seat that eas not buckled in - the child was ejected. It was not pretty. Lifetime deficits now

I’ve seen kids not in car seats while on car rider duty. It bothers me every time I see it. I also see cars loaded down with to many people and no seatbelts being worn. It’s really sad.

I literally moved states away from my Mother bc she wouldn’t use a car seat when I asked her to. She got pissed when she found out we were moving and was throwing the car seat at my house (which I provided an extra car seat just for her!!). That was 16 years ago..I still live far away. We get along now. Best decision I ever made though.

I am often amazed that the generations that grew up in the 60s-80s actually lived to tell about it, no camera phone proof, thankfully). My mom, baby brother and I were in an accident once, in an old panel van. I was 7, in the front seat, no seat belt. My brother was almost 1, in a carrier that was basically a vinyl covered box with handles and a zipper, sitting unsecured on the back seat. We both ended up on the floor. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. That's probably why I ended up embarrassing my kids, by keeping them in car/booster seats, longer than "all their friends".
