I’m a birth photographer and I told one of my nurse friends that I was getting my doula cert. She replied “Well, you KNOW how we feel about doulas 😒”. I was appalled. I thought she was a good nurse. At a surrogate birth years later, she asked me why I was so attentive to the surrogate when the legal parents were the ones paying me to photograph. And fast forward a couple of years, I’m no longer taking birth photography clients at that hospital. I’m burnt TF out on their negativity towards the mom’s birth experience.

I was told by a midwife that I was “too fat” for her services. 🫣🫣

I had a complicated high risk pregnancy so I gave birth at the hospital with the midwife and she almost cost me and my baby’s life by refusing to get a doctor in the room when things went south fast. My oxygen was low, the baby was suffering and she let me go 16 hrs of active labor and then 2 1/2 hrs of pushing just to have my baby born blue while I hemmoraged. She didn’t even follow up afterwards. My doula was amazing. She came to the room to help me with my daughter, came to the house to help me there as well. And from what I was told, it was also the last time she worked with that midwife.

Doctors don’t like science and advocates. It makes their job less convenient for them

God yes. Last year, I thought hospital births were easier. But I did mostly birth center & home births. This year I’ve attended mostly hospital births because of (unfortunately) transfers for complications. This year, the hospital stresses me TF out!

I'm struggling because on Friday I was admitted overnight to the hospital and since then have very negative feelings towards going back. I'm 35 weeks pregnant and the doctors say I'm probably not making it to term because I've been having intense contractions for 2 weeks now and they cant get them to stop, but I looked the doctor in the eye and asked where's the line where you decide hes safer out of me in the NICU than in me when I cant eat or sleep and she literally said we will sacrifice your health and mental health because sending him straight to the NICU isnt fair to you. I almost signed myself out AMA after that

I could’ve used someone with my last my blood pressure got ignored and I ended up with placental abruption and when it happened I had a ton of clots lime sized clots. I never knew that heavy pressure pain in your lower back could be that

Yes, we need people with us that aren’t controlled by the insurance. You don’t have other moms on your mind in the hospital, just one. The OB could have three other moms and labor so she’s not truly giving you there focus.😫

If my OB or a L&D nurse gave me something or did something to my baby without my consent or acknowledging me, I’m gonna attempt to sue. I wish I had good money to afford a doula but I know my fiancé won’t let anything happen to me or our baby, especially if we don’t understand why they’re wanting to do something that doesn’t need to be done
