@love2hvac: very first building to have modern air conditioning installed in 1902 by Willis Carrier of the Buffalo Forge company. It was sackett & wilhelms lithographing & printing co brooklyn 1887 - 1945 They needed temperature AND humidity control for their multi layer printing. The building still stands! Who has been in the basement of this building?? #hvac #hvachistory #hvacr #williscarrier #carrier #hvacr #love2hvac
The air conditioning in the local theater was installed in 1924. It ran till the late 90’s before being replaced. It used water and outside air from vents on the roof that moved with the wind. The vents are still on the roof today. It was replaced with modern air conditioning.

To this day people forget how critical temp/humidity control is in manufacturing. From precision metal castings to printing and pharmaceutical industries, AC enabled us to produce things consistently year round

Very cool. When I lived in Ohio, they had a old icehouse or you would go by and put ice in your ice box.
