Also all the people saying “well I make my art apolitical” are themselves making a political statement. There’s no escaping it and people are more keen to bury their head in the sand than to self reflect on art in a deeper way.

Yeah no, stating a bunch of historical examples of art being used for political purposes doesn’t prove that art in and of itself is inherently political.

People need to learn about the Degenerate Art Show in 1930’s Germany. It was mostly abstract and even Jazz music because it allowed free thinking. And well 1930’s Germany did not like free thinking.

I think people feel attacked by this phrase because their art is something personal to them and they see this as people inserting politics into their art when it's not their intention but I think it's just a lack of understanding of this concept.
