Guards like him put teams in a weird position. He’s an nba talent. But he’s not a role player and not an nba starter. His defense is ok but he it isnt lockdown. The nba is already filled with scorers. Like if he goes to the pacers he might give Hali that work in practice but Hali is mak 30+ mill while geno might only be making 1 mill. Not to mention that geno played 4 yrs in college. He 27 and the league wants young talent

Realistically what would be his role in the NBA? Only Cam Thomas and Anfernee Simons come up to my mind as pure scorers who "made it" (they were given green light in the worst teams in the entire league for multiple years), the NBA needs 6'7 swiss army knife wings to relegate in the corner shooting 3s.

It’s easy to understand why he’s not in the league, it’s not about skill every guard at a high level can go out and get buckets it’s can you do the other stuff and stay engaged when you only get the ball to shoot 3 times

Came to some of my pro runs a few years ago and played in college with some of my clients. ELITE professional scorer, athletic, crazy bag and shot maker, NIU all time leading scorer. but he’s a 6’ sg, and doesn’t necessarily do the stuff required to be a role player in the NBA at a high level (defense, playmaking)
