what if my mc follows along with his Hero Prophecy, gets forced to do what the Gods want, but doesn't want to and eventually stops and becomes a Villain and gets revenge? is that still good even if the mc follows along for multiple chapters

would it also be such a simple thing as to just give the main character a choice? for example instead of starting with the character heading off to do a job, you start it with asking him if he wants the job?

Yes!! A way to do this is the push/ pull method. Where they have something they’re moving towards and away from.
