idk about long term, but for short term, I work at a preschool and when my kiddos get stuck on a worksheet or something we do this thing that I call unsticking our brains. I tell them our brains are too sticky so we got stuck on something (like the worksheet) so we have to unstick our brains. so first we wiggle our toes, and then we grab our toes to stop them from wiggling, and then we reach really really high up, and usually stand up to reach as high as possible. and I repeat that with them until they're feeling less stuck and more silly. and then we get a drink of water, and then we try again with whatever we got stuck on. I'm sorry if this feels condescending, it really isn't meant to be. after I started doing it with them, I started going it by myself at home when I needed to clean up or something and it genuinely helped 😭😭 anyway I hope you have a good day today!!! <3

Saw this quote last year on here and it changed me “If your life was a movie, what would the audience be screaming at the screen telling you to do right now?”

The moment I wake up, I get on the phone with my friend who works from home. She will literally tell me OK it’s time to do this. OK it’s time to do that. She walks me through my day. Sometimes we get distracted and talk too long, but it’s better than nothing. I really need somebody to sit there with me and tell me what to do for every step of my day.

I just tell myself “ok imma pick up all the empty water bottles around my apt then lay down for 15 minutes scrolling then get up and put all the dirty clothes in the hamper then lay back down another 15 min” so on so forth.. a lot of times i’ll just lock in after the second or third break and get everything done

I can be stuck for hours and I get the sudden urge to jump up, it only lasts a few fleeting seconds, I take it and don't ignore it because it could mean more hours of stuck

I played mermaids today at the pool with a little girl that reminded me of younger me and she kept saying "sorry if I'm bothering you" "sorry I'm a motormouth" and she was really empathetic and emotionally intelligent for her age and her brother is diagnosed but she's seen as the layed back child by her mom but I know there's much more than that and I just kept saying you don't need to apologize and she told me I was her bestest friend she ever had and it felt like healing her and my inner child. same upbringing. even looked like a little me. people imagining spending time with their inner child I actually did and it was a crazy and healing experience. she was so sweet 🥲

One day I froze standing in my living room feeling overwhelmed by my endlesd mental to do list.I couldnt tell what was urgent and what could wait. Then proceeded to spend the next 5hrs on a school poster.Therapy and med are helping now, but srlsly, talking about it and hearing feom others say that they’ve gone thru that has helped so much.

JOLT!!! It’s like electricity. I noticed I’m doomscrolling and without allowing myself to think I jolt. I can do that by spazzing and tossing my phone or dropping it on my bed away from me. And each time I get the urge I shake around to jolt my body into distracting it. Until I’m up or my hands are on something else like a book or crocheting. Ideally, having a reading or art book away from your room is ideal, but space is the point. If you have to do dishes. Take your book with you. I notice that when I take my project i have momentum to do the dishes. I don’t even get to crochet at all because it feels weird to force another task once I’m up. May as well walk to my task and see what going on. I usually do another stim jolt moment and I begin to talk out loud about what I’m doing or going to do and how and why.

reminding myself the scariest part of the day is choosing to get up and start it. i overthink too many things about each step of my day and it makes me freeze. but as long as i gain the courage to get out of bed, it makes doing other things seem easier

I was in it for like a year and a half, I’m just starting to get out of it. I got really high one day and broke down completely (not the best way to realize) but I knew I needed to change something and that something had to do with me.
