Canadians change jars are worth a lot more. We have $1 and $2 coins. That adds up quick. I used to have a bunch at the end of the year. Unfortunately with reduced use of cash, a put very little in a change jar.

I had a changed her once. took my daughter to Oklahoma helped her move into an apartment. flew back. about a month later I opened up my change jar to take it to the bank and found it full of marbles. guess who took the change? 😂

I bank my change jar every 6-9 months, give or take. it's a couple of hundred dollars every time. Last change jar was over $1200.00. but that was after cleaning out my childhood home from my mom.

Speaking of change jars: look at the coins you receive as change. When the economy is doing well, most of the coins will be newer (minted in recent years). When the economy is down, you will see more older coins because people are digging into those change jars.
