@tarathemimi: Ok, GP girl here, diagnosed back in 2012. I have severe GP, there's nothing we can do, treat symptoms... blah blah blah. The nausea & vomiting was the worst. Since then I've been diagnosed type 2 diabetic. I've been on Ozempic since 2021 to get my diabetes under control. My A1-C is great & my nausea & vomiting are very minimal at this point. Idk why, but I am happy! I think the eating less has a lot to do with it though.

I've been on wagovy for a few months now due to being pre-diabetic and a food addiction. near the beginning, I have a little bit of nausea but since then, I've had next to no side effects. this stuff literally was a life saver for me. I would have been gaining and would have been diabetic 100%.

I have gastroparesis and my symptoms actually improved when I was put on a GLP1.

I was on zepbound 14 months, zero side effects. just some hair loss. I was switched to wegovy 2 weeks ago, instead stopped covering zep. So far not impressed with wegovy. The food noise is here, which hasn't been for 14 months. I just keep doing what I trained myself to do for the last 14 months. My daughter tried the zep, and had severe pain, dehydration, vomiting. she tried twice, and chose to go off them..

Zepbound changed my life. I lost weight, inflammation, I feel physically and mentally healthier. I recently started experiencing serious stomach issues that I didn’t have the first five months. My doctor told me today after an endoscopy that I have gastroparesis. I haven’t had an injection in two weeks. Is it possible that gastroparesis is temporary because of the GLP one? I’m so sad that I can’t take my GLP anymore and scared to have a chronic illness.

Yes the many benefits of these medications go so far beyond weight loss. I can def tolerate some mild nausea and slower digestion.

I have a family member who says a glp 1 cause chronic gastroperesis for her. Is that even possible? I know it slows down your digestive tract. But she just got diagnosed with that and thinks it’s directly from the glp1. What do you think?

Hello, Possum :
I started having g-paresis flares every six weeks or so, after being on glp-1 for over a year. I’m on max dose. It sucks but I’ll keep taking it.

My gut cannot function on GLP1 anymore. Lowest dose halts my gut to a standstill having tolerated it for 3 months fine it just changed! The pain is severe in my stomach and I have the most violently burping. I have a son who has had two multivisceral transplant due to dysmotility. Do you think dysmotility is the issue for me?

I fell into the latter group. I was a "super responder" which just meant I was usually unable to eat most days due to the gastrointestinal issues. Im on a low dose now that I tolerate well, but I am concerned about the future. My A1c is amazing and I lost 140lbs, but it took a toll. It's tough.

Apart from you - WHY doesn’t anyone talk about how if you’re an uncontrolled diabetic for a prolong time- you CAN get gastroparesis. I’m unfortunately already T2D, and have been on GLP meds for 2.5 years , I’ll never stop. Unless they find a cure for diabetes & obesity ✨

Wait — does your statement of “indications for sleep apnea” mean GLP1s help treat OSA?

I was told i have gastroparesis, he said “lazy stomach”, when i had endoscopy 2 weeks ago. Diagnosed with diabetes 1.5 yr ago, on glp1 for 1 year since metformin made me sick. My doctor is hoping i lose enough to reverse the diabetes. I don’t notice any discomfort/side effects, just 1 bm every 1-2 days, instead of 2x daily before starting glp1.

My story... gallbladder out in 20s big incision, incision herniated in 30s hernia repair with mesh. Gastroparesis post op diagnosed after nuclear study. Prediabetic. fast forward to my 40s i was on Trulicity and farxgia 15ish years A1c popped diabetic and i had gained almost 100 lbs in those years no matter the diet. Started MJ 15 months ago.. why not quality of life declining and already had gastroparesis. Down 125lbs. Gastro issues improved, labs all normal, my life is changed. I have remained on hypothyroid med, protonix for acid (been on that years scared to stop) and I take magnesium citrate to help keep things moving. I feel like a teenager again and weight the same i did freshman year. I control gastroparesis by diet really well with no big flares this whole time. I'll take my MJ the rest of my life and happily take it. It has been a miracle med for me now onto some skin removal and stomach muscle reconstruction.

My dr is trying to get me on a glp1 but insurance won’t pay because I’m not diabetic YET. I was dx’d with EPI earlier this year and am prediabetic and I don’t want to wait did my body to get more sick but I even gain weight instead of losing it from EPI.

i feel similarly. i have hEDS so i was indeed anxious about having gastroparesis with a glp1. I have found during the process that being on an extremely specific meal plan and rigorous medication’s to keep me going that I am OK and regular. i have pcos & bed-bound from long covid. i was eating like 1300-1400 calories *no sugar* before glp1 use & still gained to 275. (cymbalta, steroid use & gaba didn’t help) the only thing that helped me get back down to 175 was glp1 while maintaining 1200-1400 calories. My pcos symptoms are gone & my periods regulated one month in. do i hate that it’s aggravated my IBS? yes, but it’s made my body hurt less w reduced inflammation as well as the pcos. so it’s worth the change in diet for me. i’m desperate to feel better while still stuck in bed. i’m sorry this was long. hope this helps anyone curious about the meds.

Ozempic had me in the hospital because I was throwing up and literally couldn’t eat anything. I stopped it. I take Mounjaro now and have no issues! My A1C went from 9.8 to 5.5.

I had severe gastroparesis from ages 14-17 and was truly traumatized by it. I’ve been afraid to try a gl-p1 (I’m 33 now) because I’m worried I may be more susceptible to gastroparesis as a side effect due to my history. Curious if anyone has had experience with this

I have gastroparesis and was worried that I wasn’t going to be able to do the GLP-1. We thought I might not go up in dose but have tolerated up to 7.5. I do take Trulance to help move my gut.

But it not like there aren't risky and side effects from the diabetic meds, cholesterol meds, high BP meds, the ones for stomach and other issues. So to focus on side effects on these why?
