@nataliejillfit: #Midlife plot twist: I bent over to put on shoes and didn’t need a prayer circle 🥳 Day 6 post #discreplacement… and I have officially turned the corner. 🙌 I’m no longer lying around wondering “Why did I do this to myself?” The pain and muscle spasms were SUPER intense those first few days. Like, 10/10 wouldn’t recommend. But my surgeon kept telling me the intensity was because my disc was so far collapsed and the correction was a shock to my spine and body. He was right. I turned a corner today. The biggest win? When I bent at the waist this morning to put on my shoes (yes, I tested it on purpose) I didn’t get that awful zap or electric jolt that I’ve been dealing with for two decades. That alone is worth celebrating. I did stop the muscle relaxers because even though they were helping with the spasms, they were also making me feel really down. Like, low. So we’re done with those. The stomach distension is still very much a thing… it looks like I swallowed a beach ball… but that’s normal and should settle down over the next few weeks. The more I walk and stand, the better I feel. So I’m avoiding sitting as much as possible right now and staying upright as much as I can And you KNOW I’ve already started all my favorite recovery hacks. At this point I’m probably 90% bionic between this, my explant, and eye surgery.
