it's so depressing that in 2025 we have to appeal to men's ownership of women (i.e his mother, his sister, etc.) to elicit empathy from them.

These type of guys don’t even care how their mothers, sisters, aunties or cousins are being treated. Because if they did they would have never acted this way. Cach is a good example, he never disrespected any woman and even when Toni violated him, he still kept it respectful and real even tho he was hurt badly. He literally said he would never want his sisters, mother or any female family member to be treated how Harrison been treating these women. You could never say and ask Harrison,Harry or Dejon how they would feel if another guy would treat them they way they treated these girls because they literally don’t give a heck how another man treats their family in the first place. They really showed who they are in real life

I used to work with domestic abuse perpetrators. I’ve always despised shows like love island for normalising absolutely shocking behaviour in relationships. How can we change people’s behaviour when it goes unchecked in the media.

Reflecting on how you'd feel if it were a female relative being mistreated does encourage empathy, but it also implies that a woman must be connected to a man to deserve respect. This just reinforces the idea of women needing protection rather than being equals. Men don’t use this logic with other men, they respect them by default. Women deserve the same baseline respect, without needing to be someone’s mother, sister, or daughter to be humanised.

The fact that Women Aid have prioritised a response puts into perspective how bad this really is. Thank you for speaking up about it! What's a shame is there are good men out there, that have been raised well and are truly respectful but it seems that the majority cloud this. Its so refreshing to hear men call out this behaviour - why can't this be the norm?
