This is all about playoff and championship game gate money for big ticket sports like football, basketball and baseball. Honestly, it waters down the state championship for ALL sports. Hate it for wrestling.

Divisions are messy. I think CA and NJ, Indiana, those are HYPE. Extremely. HOWEVER: it’s not always biggest schools best. I’m from Washington. Our 1A/2A division is FAR AND AWAY the best. On one hand yes smaller schools have less resources. PA and IA are still premier states WITH classes. So I mean. Idk.

I feel that almost every state needs 1 division. Exceptions of course like PA that have 2 divisions which is understandable. But states like Alabama as well that have like 7 divisions just makes no sense. States like California and New Jersey with 1 division shows that there really isn’t a need for more that 4 divisions.

You’re missing the point of the state of wrestling in NC: 1) this was done because of the greed of football and basketball 2) NC-49 wrestling had quality points to make up the brackets for regions meaning if you have more points based off record you can bump a kid out at weight class you never wrestled at 3) the
