While growing surveillance by the state is horrifying, I’d argue that public behavior surveillance by social media tends to target those who usually get away with their crimes and who are traditionally insulated from their bad actions by their social status. This is also why ice agents are now covering their faces. I would argue that until the state takes full control of social media, this reverse surveillance looking upwards functions as a form of democratic social leverage.

Interesting… now you care about privacy and surveillance because it’s happening to a CEO of a tech corporation. It almost seems like you are covering this because it’s tech news, and as if you are part of the tech journalism ecosystem.
