The Kill Bill speech, in my opinion, is meant to be incorrect: it’s Bill showing his fundamental misunderstanding of what humanity “is”, which lead him to making the mistakes of giving Kiddo the opportunity for revenge. I think it could be read either way at least. But that’s neither here nor there- the way people take it is as though it were correct, even though it isn’t.

you know, i think this is wild bc for anyone struggling to "aspire" to be like superman, thinking he is too good and too powerful and so they just can't relate, I wonder what they think about Jesus... can they not aspire to be better, kinder, more loving by following the example of Jesus, you know, a man but also the son of God? 😂 and what about God, the all-knowing sky-dwelling entity and star of his very own storybook with fans... are these his followers that are struggling to relate to humanity?

throwback to Bat V Sups: an article was written pre-release in my local paper. The Author's argument was "it takes more strength as a superhero to control your anger when you can destroy the planet with your eyeballs, than it does being an unhealed billionaire orphan that hospitalizes thugs just because he refuses to ☠️people". I've never forgotten that. Batman said it himself. Deep down, Clark is a good person, and deep down, I'm not.

This is such a beautiful, poetic take. I'm not well versed on all super hero lore, but this makes great sense. The idea of superman being the product of the kind, caring, intelligent humans who have raised him is a beautiful story😭💙😭💙

It’s nature vs nurture right? Like yes by nature rules he’s an alien buuuutttt he was raised as a normal kid from a small no name town in Kansas by two tremendous parents who showed him nothing but love. His powers are kryptonian, his moral fiber is human.

another take might be he gives us kindness because we *taught* him kindness, like, the goodness we gave him is reflected selflessly back to us in a beautiful, endless cycle. humanity is inherent dignity we reinforce and care for, passing it forward and back (ideally) to cultivate a healthy society, and supes supercharges that idea
