Out of curiosity, why didn’t they have you take the glucose test?

Don’t do the induction. The induction increases your chances of getting a C-section.

Do not induce unless medically necessary! The stress tests should give them a good idea about how you and baby are doing so doesn’t sound like medically necessary to me unless tests say differently

Went in for induction at 41 wks and was 3 cm dilated at the time. Went totally fine (didn’t feel like the contractions were super painful right off the bat like some ppl say they are) I did get epidural once it got bad and that went fine too. Labor lasted about 15 hrs in total and pushed the babe out in liek an hour. Mind you this was my first baby😅 every case is v individual but this was my experience w/ being induced. You got this mama

That’s not good enough reason for induction, plenty of women refuse diabetes tests. I did with my 4th as well. I fought them and refused and also refused the size estimate scan. If baby is fine just keep fighting them. listen to your gut , prayers your way!

Docs wanted me to have a c/s scheduled at 40 wks, intuitively I knew I would go into labor (bby was completely fine and I was already 3 cm dilated) and so I politely declined, went into labor at 41 and 3 days and had an amazing unmedicated vbac. So glad I prayed on it and listened to my gut. I’d say ask what your options are, what will they do if you decline and wait on baby, how does the stress test look, maybe consider getting checked at 40 weeks.

Remember * hospital is a business . All they want is, to get you in faster and get you out. Plus doctors make 15% more when performing a c-section on patients . I had a c sections with my first and had a successful Vbac with my second. They did try to push another c section while I was in labor but I listened to my body and knew what was best for me and my baby .

Girl my doc pushed early induction and it lets to a c section because my daughter was processing but her heart rate kept dropping.. I wish I knew more back then and advocated not to get induced at 37 weeks :(

I had an induction with my first child and it ended in a C section - worst experience of my life. I ended up getting pregnant 6 months postpartum and fought HARD to have my VBAC. I was so determined even with it being such a close pregnancy because of how traumatized I was from my hospital experience. I had a homebirth with my second it was an 18 hour labor and I had her at home. Something I’m not seeing anyone mention here is that your chances of having your uterus rupture is actually higher if you have an induction after you have had a c section so keep that in mind. It’s still very rare but they never tell you these things! The induction contractions are barbaric in my opinion and I felt like I lost a rite of passage with my first birth. There’s something about letting nature take its course IF it’s safe to do so ofcourse. Also docs never mention that the more c sections you have it can lead to infertility, you can be at risk for miscarriages by having future babies implant on your uterine scar, also higher chance of having placental implantation issues in future pregnancies. If you desire to have more children in your future after this one avoiding an induction and C sections is key!

everyone is so different. i was induced unmedicated, and i progressed smoothly, i got to 7cm in like 12hours. as soon as i got the epidural, they also upped my pitocin and i stalled at 8cm for EIGHT HOURS. the epidural stopped my labor, i developed preclampsia, i watched my sons heart slow to almost a stop and when it did i got an emergency c-section. i would no recommend an induction at all. epidural, yes correctly.

I was really scared of getting induced. I have only 1 baby so nothing else to compare it to but my induction was so smooth. Gave birth within 7 hours, quick pushing. I did end up getting the epidural towards the end because it was unbearable once they put me on pitocin towards the end. It truly was so much less scary than what I heard! But I know your situation maybe different. Praying for an amazing labor for you! 🙏🏼❤️

My induction was super painful because I tried to do it naturally. I was 37 weeks, not dilated at all. Had the foley baloon to dialated which made me throw up for 4 hours straight & so much pain. After 24 hours I got the epidural, soo it got way better & had my daughter 5 hours later. 3 years later I feel like I could have done it all the way without the epidural but it was brutal lol

My water broke at 37 wks 1 day but was only dilated to a 5 cm (this is my first child). When I got to the hospital, they started induction process and it took 20 hours to get to 10 cm. It was so draining, so slow.. I didn’t want to do the epidural, made it to 8 cm and I just got EXHAUSTED by that point and knew if I didn’t do it, I wouldn’t have the strength to push- I was already worn out. I strongly believe if I wouldn’t have been induced, my labor would have been completely different but they made me feel like I didn’t have a choice (and I was low key clueless/ I didn’t prep myself and wasn’t knowledgeable about induction).

first pregnancy was a c-section and second was an induction, very successful. but it’s up to you, they can push for an induction but you still have the last say if they can induce you or not. if you feel like everything is fine and the stress tests are good, don’t get induced… they can’t force it

Will they be willing to do a swab? That got my labor going both times especially If you’re a couple centimeters dilated already.

Inductions are by far the worst. Had it with 5 out of 6 kids and the one that came natural was the best labor.

If you are getting induced, don’t rush into pitocin right away. Ask for other options before doing it. I got induced 3 times and my smoothest labor was when I got a folley catheter to soften my cervix and then they took is SLOW with the pitocin. Inductions don’t always have to be this scary thing.

If they are saying you should do an induction because you didn’t take the glucose test maybe you can ask them to monitor your sugar at home for a week to see if you have elevated sugars or not. It might help them feel better for you to go over 40 weeks.

I was induced with my first. It was theeee worst pain of all three of my deliveries. And then her heart rate was drastically dropping, they had to vacuum her out, almost being a c section.

I was induced & thank goodness I was. My placenta was 10 percentile & should have never gone over 40 weeks. I got chiro as soon as my water broke because I already had an infection. Thank God my baby was born healthy at 41&4.

Got induced with my first and the unnatural contractions were horrible, basically tortured myself not getting epidural for 4 days wish I did it sooner. Don’t be scared to advocate for yourself if you feel fine don’t do it!
