1000%! Also, when you said “nurses”, I said OUT LOUD “nurses?! Who’s got nurse money these days?!?” The last two school districts my kids have been in have had one nurse for the entire district; neither of which were in super small, rural towns.

I home school. The curriculum alone costs a thousand dollars a year. I'm teaching. I'm providing the building, i'm providing this heat in the water. There is no way for $4000 a year you could provide professional teachers, the building and the books

Most wealthy Americans either do or try to send their kids to schools that cost $40K or more. At the core of this view is the very simple idea that some kids deserve a great education, and others deserve scraps.

Ok! Can we also talk about how well funded schools also means a good economy?! Yes, we’re paying teachers. We’re also paying maintenance workers, bus drivers, counselors, office workers, etc! When cuts are made to rural schools, it devastates their economies! Education is just a great investment in our future and our communities!

I will never understand people WANTING schools to be underfunded. I don’t have a kid in public school, but still vote for the schools to have more of my property taxes. Those children are an important part of our COMMUNITY.

$4k per student? 20 kids per class = $80,000. So teachers get all that (each child has a classroom teacher, a gym teacher, a music teacher, an art teacher, and probably a computer teacher or librarian, special ed staff, splitting $80k amongst those would use it all up) and there’s no money for books, equipment, a nurse, front office staff, heating/cooling the building, the building itself, custodians, electricity, playground, clocks, desks, staplers, photocopies, laminating, smart boards, desks, manipulatives, phones, attendance software, internet, lab equipment, land management, snowplowing, shovels, parking lots, benches, lunch tables… oh and standardized tests, computers… the list goes on

and those other countries do not offer things like sports, music, clubs, enrichment, bussing, etc. Anyone with special needs goes to another "special" school.
