Well, I’m dutch and we had to write about books in the class that teaches the Dutch language. And apparantly my teacher was so touched and interessed in the story that she asked me if she could borrow the book😊 Was a really sad one though😕

I took a dual enrollment class for my senior year English class and we read Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown and that was hands down of the most eye opening books ever and it really just reflects on what society actually is I would 100 percent recommend it to anyone especially seniors

I'm in highschool, in my freshman year I chose to read and liked "The most beautiful molecule" which is basically a chem book on the discovery of the buckyball (buckminsterfullerene) then in sophomore year I read soo many books from self-improvement and psychology. Some top favorites is Atomic Habits by James Clear (Small actions lead to big changes), Mindset by Carol S. Dweck PhD, Think Again by Adam Grant, and Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. (Growth mindset). For philosophy I only read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. I am currently reading Why we Sleep by Matthew Walker, 7 habits of highly effective people by Covey. I am also still reading Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. I also do read fiction preferably not Shakespeare or Homer and more prefferably a light novel like Shadow Slave, Omniscient Readers Viewpoint, or Lord of the mysteries.

In secondary school here in England we read An Inspector Calls and that prompted the most reactions out of everyone! Even those in the class who didn't like reading thought the ending was insane and everyone was asking if there was a sequel 😂 I personally also really enjoyed Macbeth, A Christmas Carol (biased as I've read it twice before and love Dickens) and then for A-Levels (college) I read The Great Gatsby and I enjoyed that, mostly because of the memories made joking around with my friends about it😂

Night shook the class up including myself. We also did random short stories and we were hooked on Edgar Allen Poe for a while. Our last book was on Phinase Gage I believe?

I used to read the chapter explaining release in The Giver out loud when I taught 8th grade. Similar to what you said, they didn't want to talk. So I gave them paper instead. "Letter to Dad" and man, would they unleash.

Not an English book, but a Dutch book. "Het Verrotte Leven van Floortje Bloem." In English (my translation) "The Awful Life of Floortje Bloem." It is about a young girl that (as the title suggests) a awful life, she starts in the.. system and, while I wouldnt say it was a complete fail for her, it just all went downhill from getting to her second family. In addition, it is deprived from the life of an actual girl/woman. I was CRUSHED by the end of it.
