@curtdubya: Astronomer CEO Andy Byron put out a statement about his being caught embracing the company's Chief People Officer (CPO) Kristin Cabot at a @Coldplay concert. This is a textbook example of how not to write an apology statement. While it starts out fine enough with an acknowledgement of the incident and an apology to his family, he errs by then going on to blame Coldplay for doing what they do at every concert. It's not Coldplay's fault that Byron and Cabot chose to conduct their affair in public. If they wished not to be seen, they should have gone somewhere that wouldn't have been seen. Even had they already been in private, however, it's not other people's responsibility to keep their illicit secrets quiet. The best way to not get blamed for doing wrong is to not do wrong. There's an almost pathological need for people who reach a certain level to shift blame from themselves. This is not leadership.
