The only thing I might change to avoid getting in trouble is to say something like “stop talking and listen,” or something along those lines. I don’t actually think OP did anything wrong but I could see the use of “shut up” getting them in some minor trouble if the guy chose to complain. Other than that, OP did nothing wrong and provided more constructive criticism than most people get from a failed interview.
