I'm a white Australian currently living in a multi-generational household and it's great, because, y'know, living is expensive and why should my kid and elderly mother NOT live with me when we're all more comfortable this way?

I think it's the "my roof - my rules" mentality. If you don't see your child as a person when they are small, you will not learn it, when they will grow up. And because of it, you can't build relationships with them as with the adults - someone who contributes to household, bare responsibility and have a say in the decisions. And that's why, living together could be very hard for some.

My family has stayed in the same home my Grampy bought when my Dad was 7, he’s 60, I’m 29, my aunt took over the level that my grandparents lived in after they passed, and my Dad has plans to build a house and I get to design part of it for myself and it’s still gonna have space for my aunt and her husband and my cousin. It’s just how our family works and the town I live in kinda too

Well my parents said you can live with us as long as you need but you must either study or work and I have done and I'm doing both so I think it's fair arrangement food is included for free no matter what so practically even if I just work I can save money and eventually move out

1. you don't really have to pay full rent or utilities 2. you can study witouth stressing over economics 3. chores are split and you or your parents don't have to do them all alone. ik that this only counts if you have a decent relationship with your parents or siblings

I hate this having to be an example, 24 still living with my mom because hey! Mom's getting old! And just to prove my point she had a stroke a month ago, guess who's not moving out! ✌

legalize multiplexes. unless houses get cheap again multigenerational homes aren't going anywhere.

24 rn and everyone in my close circle with one exception is still living at home with family. housing and such is just not affordable unless you either have an insanely well paying job or have roommates.

"giving more money to the companies that employ me" then they'd just give it to the shareholders, not the workers.

In literally every culture except America it is normal but not here cause they want the economy including the housing market to grow forever which isn’t possible
