no one probably really cares but in the 1860s there was a huge surge in banana importation so they were more accessible to general public and it allowed them to be used as comedic devices in vaudeville shows. thats how it made it into mainstream but I dont really know about the first person to slip on a banana peel.

Yes early 1900s when roads were muddy from rain and sidewalks were wooden planks. Had a college professor show us on a newspaper database. The banana was easy food for factory workers due to the skin.

yes, historically they are a tropical fruit and once upon a time it was new to the american market. old new papers had names for ind who would leave the new "exotic" laying around to the danger of those around them. for more information look up "united fruit co honduras"
