Before I was able to afford a psych physicians assistant, my pcp would always tell me “since I’m prescribing these meds to make you feel better, ALWAYS call and tell me an update. If you’re going great I want to hear from you and if I don’t hear from you we might worry you’re not doing too well”. It really opened up the door for me to communicate to her and we moved meds around a lot with psych stuff. Now she doesn’t manage it anymore, my psych does (yay!) but it has always stuck with me!
