I swearrrrr. Now I am visiting Alabama at the moment but have lived here before imagine my SHOCK yesterday when this yt guy passed by me twice in the aisle then finally spoke. He said he didn’t want to startle me because of the climate we are in but wanted to tell me he thought I was beautiful.

It took me a LONG time to realize that I’m not ugly. I’m just in the wrong environment.

I knew it too! She didn’t expect him to be interested which caused her to miss the signs

Most Dark-skinned ladies have had a little Orlandria in them. This resonates with me so much when I was in high school.

Many find us unapproachable, as well. I remember after I graduated from high school, so many white dudes/non-black dudes, confessed to me, including some that were completely unexpected. My best friend at the time tried to tell me, but I thought they were all into her (pretty, blonde, white, blue eyes). I’m in Texas, so… They would reach out to me on fb, and would be like, “I didn’t think you’d like me, so I never said anything.” It happened so often that I got tired of hearing it after four years. I don’t even go on Fb anymore and that’s one of the main reasons. The hesitance still happens in real life, as well.😩😩😩

Grew up in Cali, and although I am Blaxican, and was raised to find love where I am wanted & cherished, and even though I have dated non-black men, it took directness & a whole lot of convincing that a non-black man found me attractive. I did not move in my normal confidence. I totally understood Olandria bcs I was (and still am) Olandria. Looks like we are all Olandria.

I haven’t wanted to speak on it so that I don't deflect from our dark skinned sisters experiences but because you talked about seeing ourselves in her story, I feel you will take it in the spirit it is intended. As a plus sized black woman, the experience is similar and I fully understand her.

"A lot of guys in my school wasn't interested in people who looked like me." Sadly, that included Black guys bc there's no shortage of bm/ww pairings in the South. bw/ww pairings are rarer. I think it's bc of fear of disapproval from both sides. We need to start caring less and go where we're appreciated!!

I can so relate. Being a Latina, olive skin, spiral curls, I was overlooked. I know how that feels. Just wait until you see the world thinks otherwise! 😂😂😂

So I’m a brown girl and I always liked yt boys in (TX) high school. And they would always tell me I was pretty and flirt. But they would never ask me out. I wonder if this is why. I am not engaged to a yt man from Ohio 🤣 and he treats me like a Queen.

I literally had to explain this to my white male coworker because he thought she didn’t like him.. I’m like she does but she’s moving that way because as a black woman she’s not thinking he is actually into her
