Place it high on the frame and high and tight on your shoulders. Put 100lb worth of sand bags inside it and ruck 22 miles in two and a half to three hours once a week. Do that and any rucking exercise you do in the future will be a cake walk 👍

Get the bag as high on the frame as possible and keep light stuff like sleeping bag and clothes in the bottom of the bag, heavy stuff at the top. Get a wide back pad, it’ll make it not hurt too bad in the long run. Best boots for me are Garmons, Oakley light assault r cool but only got garrison. They hurt my feet a lot tho. Train twice a week one for speed and one for distance. No more than 50 lbs but get used to 35. A good standard is to be able to do 12 miles in less than 3 hours

I was 30 when I joined. You’ll kill it. Being older and having life experiences makes it all much easier. I promise

Pack your heavy items towards the top. You want the weight as high as possible.

Where’d you buy your ruck?

Apex :
Ruck 2 times a week, one for speed one for distance. 35lbs in the ruck, nothing more because it's training. You dont need injury. Do one serious ruck a month where you combine the speed and the distance. Do it in GI boots with full uniform if you got one. Get used to that discomfort and heat. RLTW!

Take the pack of the frame shave down the little holes in the frame and get the pack slotted in to the highest points you want the Ruck up and tight to ur back and shoulders, heaviest weight should be packed closer to your back

Kinda misleading when they say pack the heavier things at the top. I prefer to pack them as close to the middle, tucked UP AGAINST my back, with lighter gear squished around further away from my back. Think about leverage

Take care of your feet. Good socks.. good boots.. whatever is most comfortable to YOU. Going through training you’ll have to wear the issued boots, but can buy whatever you want later (within reason).

I went in at 32. #1 anytime you pack your ruck, put all lite on the bottom and all heavy stuff on top so the weight gets distributed on your shoulders and not your back. #2 Ruck between 8-12 miles once a week(keep your pace at 14:30 per mile). #3 I highly recommend garmont boots they will help with your ankles. #4 don’t just focus on rucking, be sure to run atleast 1-2 miles a day at a minimum of 8 minute pace. #5 every morning as soon as you wake up do 100 push-ups followed by 100 sits.
