Brianna Fruean was one of first to bring it to light during the Miss Samoan Pageant saying ‘There’s a lot of abuse of our children; and there’s a lot of incest that happens in our villages.’. Remember alot of people were mad at her online in the comments. But glad she spoke out. This not ok, at all.

In the Tongan culture, they don’t allow boys and girls sleep in the same for these reasons. Respect is huge. It’s sad that Seta had to go thru this and many more kids :(

I’m sad and embarrassed for her and her family. It’s never the children’s fault being that young and experiencing such travesty at a young age. I hope she can find peace and forgiveness someday, but I don’t blame her if she’s hurting and upset because of the trauma she experienced. Finding God is the only way out and dedicating your life to serve his purpose will bring comfort and understanding. I don’t wish her experience on any child or any human being. At the end of the day Karma will prevail and she will show no mercy. Blessings to you and your Ohana.

Would always question my dad at a young age why we couldn’t sleep over certain peoples houses & he would always tell us the reason why. Never understood then but I understand the assignment now! Loove & light to all the spoken & unspoken stories 🙏🏼❤️

She is absolutely brave for sharing her story. This is unfortunately a normal for many in the Polynesian culture. Ofa atu sis! Thank you for sharing.

I remember in HS, a girl shared her SA story with the entire school bc she wanted to bring awareness early on. I remember her as hella brave. I hope she's okay today and I hope Zabrina is okay too 💕💯

This is so sad 😢 I comment this woman for being brave enough to speak up about it even if the experience was also personal to her childhood :(

As a lifelong Samoan lol, I can confirm that I've never heard any Samoan adult tell their child to go sleep in the same bed with ANYONE other than their parents.

The fact this is so common and not often talked about proves there is a much larger problem in our native communities. I remember when Once Were Warriors hit too close to home.

My parents, especially my mother, taught me the importance of avoiding sleepovers, a principle I still uphold, while recognizing that trust can sometimes lead to unforeseen consequences. I strongly advise against allowing sleepovers or permitting individuals to interact with your children, particularly in family settings or with friends, where caution is crucial. Unfortunately, not all families prioritize this concern. One can never be entirely certain. I am deeply sorry that she had to endure this traumatic experience, which will likely leave lasting trauma, but let us remain cautious. ❤️🙏🥹

Brah, I don't know what kind of poly family you were raised in, but that is not common practice.

When an adult family member or close friend starts doing things to a little girl or little boy, children don’t tell because they only understand with the child’s mind and they are being told by a loved one that what they are doing loving and caring. It isn’t Until they are adults when they habe gained knowledge that they understand adult thinking and have the knowledge to tell! We have to watch so carefully as parents and family! Thank you for sharing your experience! You have helped others! Children only understand that adults love and protect them, until …. They become adults. 🤔😢
