Never lowered my price in 35 years. I don’t know how many times I went back and repaired the lower price guys work. There’s no need to race to the bottom.

you got to know how they got to the price that they quoted you. it's very likely that both quotes are not for the exact same job. the last project I had estimated had a third of the price for protecting the floors, daily clean up storage and disposal. easy to solve and knocked almost a week off the job.

What If you have worked with the client before? Does the same entitled attitude apply? For example, we bought and older home and worked with the same contractor for approx 50k in repairs(interior) then when it came to landscaping, he was about 7k over the average. Should we not ask him to come down?

I agree with paying for skilled labor but as a homeowner I always get minimum three bids. I had a guy try to swindle me 13,500 on my roof not knowing I do blue collar work during the day. I met him in my restaurant. I got an honest quote from a reputable company they said 10,000 then my neighbors friend that owns a good company did mine for 9,000 and the quality is superb. So yes always get multiple quotes.

I no longer provide quotes unless the customer can give me at least a budget range at 1st conversation. Ppl don’t like it and I have had to pass on providing quotes but I’m more efficient, less stressed for time and book more quality customers…

This has been happening a lot to me lately, last estimate I gave for a bathroom remodel the other "company " was charging $6000 labor and materials for a full bathroom remodel, I just said good luck on your project

maybe the other company has lower overhead.juatbcause they are cheaper or your more expensive that has nothing to do with scope of work. I had siding done all companies I called was over 20,000$. I hired individual crew and it was 7500$. guess who that crew also subbed for

People having to refinance to do floors is wild. You people will pay when the time comes. You are taking advantage of people . There is nothing wrong with making a good living but you crooks are taking it way further. One guy told me 15,000 to do 900sq ft of flooring .. just regular hardwood flooring in a newly constructed home . There is not even a floor to remove!!!! Karma to all the greedy.

the cheap guy doesn't have insurance, workmans comp or anything else and if they'll cut corners in business they will on the job too. the guys who do things legally end up making less after they jump through all the hoops theyre supposed to
