I think this shows that like the IP doesn’t need to be a one for one remake. There is a wiggle room to like update it with new environmental issues. The kids still being from their respective continents, but maybe from a different country or different part of it like making wheeler from like a Flint,Michigan so he brings up like not safe, clean drinking water
