i’m going to tell you a cheat code; civil union with someone from there (if available). not marriage! i have had two perm residencies in diff countries through doing this! is it stressful and costs money? yes. is it less stressful and costs less money than other avenues? also yes!

In Spain it only takes years of being an illegal to be a resident while it’s 5 years and 100s of thousands later to become a permanent resident

Oh it’s difficult. Just relocated to Germany and not only was it very expensive, but the paperwork involved? Asinine. People need to throw out the “I’ll just move to Europe rhetoric” because even with a job offer/sponsorship and work visa, it’s HARD.

So true! These things are not very visible when you’re a citizen. When you’re in the other side it’s so obvious that borders are made to extract and extort the poor. They don’t exist for corporations and the rich.

I looked into Ireland because my great grandfather is from there. I'd have to work and live in the country for 3 years. How do I get a work visa? I have to be a scientist or a doctor or an IT expert or an engineer. They certainly don't need my Realtor skills. So I can't get a job there. So I can't live and work there. So I can't get residency. Even as a descendant of an Irish citizen I can't.

There’s a lot of countries where it’s a lot easier to immigrate to and now with what’s going on in America, countries are accepting Americans seeking political asylum

Yes, as someone who has left, it is extremely difficult and you have to keep proving you have that money every time you need to extend and renew your visa and certain visas also only allow you to work part time. On a student visa you're technically not supposed to be working above a certain amount of hours. It is not easy unless you have a disposable income basically making it so the rich can flee if they want but those without means are going to be stuck.

I started researching when he got elected the first time. I think it would be possible for my husband to find work in another country, and a lot of them let you get in on their retirement without 20 years of paying in, like we have.. but I have ADHD, and whenever I think of the stress of an international move, I feel sick.

No because why do I have 2 degrees in a high demand field, I do actually have 20K in the bank, I have years of skilled work experience and I STILL can’t find someone to sponsor a work visa for me 😭
