felt like a sober ayahuasca trip the first 7ish hours were glorious, but for some reason, as soon as i turned around to walk home, it went dark pretty quick a few suggestions for anyone else that might try the 12-hour walk -plan the perfect “reentry” for you: yes, you are out there walking by yourself in silence for 12 hours but how you “re-enter” your own world could have a massive impact on your headspace when you are out there so plan something that will bring you calm and joy as soon as you walk back into the house -have some thoughts the night before about what you may want to and need to think through, and consider what you may need to know about them before the walk since you will not be able to look at your calendar, google something, etc. having everything in your head to think through could be the difference between slipping into darker worry versus having the clarity that you need to think through some of your bigger bugaboos -make sure you really clear that day from anything else other than the walk and perhaps a weekend would be have been better when you don’t think about who maybe looking for you work wise for any reason -truly do not care about distance, i wanted to get to the top of manhattan, but don’t let 36 miles throw you off from trying this, the book even says 1 mile or 50 miles makes no difference as long as you are just out there in silence in your own a couple other notes based on comments and questions i saw from the first post -no, i did not end up eating edibles, this was 100% sober -the “vlogging” of it did not diminish the experience, the book encourages you to do some documentation so taking clips was not unprecedented and i have a little magnetic case that made it super easy to leave my phone on crosswalk signs and cross twice to get some easy clips along the way without having to really stop or ever set anything up overall, this was a pretty amazing experience that i would 1000% do it again
