@middleeasteye: “Israel is a nuclear-armed nation, which is very capable of defending themself.” During a House floor debate, US congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene proposed an amendment to cut $500m in military aid for Israel’s missile defence system. Greene said that “Israel, a nuclear-armed nation,” is very much capable of defending itself and does not require US funding, saying, “The US already provides Israel with $3.8 billion annually in foreign aid… Additionally, the April 2024 security supplemental included $8.7 billion for Israel.” The House ultimately rejected the amendment, with only six votes in favour and 422 against it.
