I started my period at 10, 5th grade, while I was in school. Luckily I knew what it was, but I didn’t know that I was supposed to go to the nurse’s office and ask for supplies. No supplies was in the bathroom. I ended up stuffing my underwear with toilet paper for the rest of the school day

Yes, on average, girls are menstruating at earlier ages and it isn’t a good thing. Stress, obesity, processed foods, and environmental factors all play a roll.

I was 7 or 8…. I’m a cancer survivor and I had radiation on my lower abdomen. Between chemo and radiation, it sped up my reproductive system. Hope this helps✨

Heather, girls have been starting them around 8 years old now. They need to be taught about their bodies VERy young. Using proper words for their body parts. Explaining it’s normal. Acting like these things don’t exist puts them at a higher risk of assault.

I got mine at the age of 8, while at school. I still look back on how crazy that was. I think it's great they are now in the bathroom because it was so embarrassing having to go to thr nurse each time I needed one.

I got my first period when I was 9 years old 😭 the following year is when they began to talk to our class about periods and I had already been having them for a whole year. I wish someone had talked to me a about it before I got it bc I was so scared when I got it in school.

You’d be surprised, depending on genetics girls vary. I started mine at 13 and my daughter at 10. We really need to make sure girls are not terrified, shamed, or scared, as it will happen to every girl at her own time.

I teach 4th grade. I always have 1 on their period every year and usually 1 more start. We do a talk at the end of the year, so they are ready for it. It isn’t that uncommon. Back in 1990, I was 11 and wasn’t the first.

I got mine in 3rd grade. My mom (we arent biologically related) got hers late 15/early 16. I wish I had pads in the restroom when I was little.
