Exactly! Thank you, I’ve been saying this for this longest. A truly generous person is not generous in a vacuum. Whatever I do for a person is because it’s who I am. I can’t be take advantage of because I’m not giving in order to receive nor am I doing it to get picked. Once I see a person is no longer deserving, I walk away with no regrets and not feeling a way about what I’ve done. I’m never kicking myself like ‘I did all that for them and they treated me like that’. I did what I did free and clear. They don’t owe me and it’s all good.

My biggest problem is a lot of men see us as free labor or what we can do for them. It’s transactional not genuine “love”. I would absolutely take care of someone that is also taking care of my needs too. But if it is a one way street, I’m out. (Applies to friendships too)

I did it because I’m also an empathetic person and do it for anyone. But every time I have done that I have been taken advantage of. It’s great that your situation went well. Happy for you, but I have a question. Why say you’re going to block people? As someone that’s empathetic, that also means listening to others perspectives. Many of us just get taken advantage of over and over.

This is a great topic—didn’t come across as a gender specific. Most women out there are very selfless. Granted I’ve haven’t experienced that much in my personal life—but that’s a reflection of my choice of character 😅
