@unoriginal_sins: quid pro quo and extortion walked so propaganda and compliance could run #lateshow #stephencolbert #cbs #larryellison #paramountpictures #lawsuit #media #monopoly #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp
Our media is corporate owned, now who’s benefiting the most from a Trump presidency? Corporate America. It’s always been about the consolidation of power and control of information, it’s depressing to see it happen in real time while Americans are almost completely oblivious. I don’t see it as a left vs right issue as it’s the result of decades of propaganda to eroded public trust in government with the weaponization of information to divide ppl into groups so no mass opposition can take place. 2020 was probably our last chance to untie and stop it and our elected officials failed us because they’re also bought and sold so Trump walked free, it was by design

The only positive note in this otherwise sham of a situation is that Stephen Colbert is fully aware of what's going on. he will indeed use that to his advantage. s***'s going to get interesting.

🤣 No antitrust laws at work or being utilised as usual: just mini duopoly to mini monopoly over & over and they get away with everything

More specifically, they said it was strictly a FINANCIAL decision. Trump threatened some sort of defunding. Had to’ve.

its ridiculous that signing business interests over to an immediate family member makes the impression that the person is stepping away in any shape or form.

this in tandem with killing public media spells doom for our future. I don't know that we can substack our way through this.

Monopolies are happening all around us and it feels like we are powerless to do anything about it. Here in Canada the grocery and media monopolies have made everything so expensive, it's getting hard to keep up. The middle class doesn't exist here anymore.

Colbert crossed Larry Ellison. THAT was his mistake. It wasn’t about Trump. It was about Larry’s nepo baby getting made fun of.

While I 1000% agree with you and the "journalism" is infuriating, I can also imagine that if I was a journalist during these times under a dictatorship I would be scared af to say anything

He also is likely wanted in the merger. They could easily renew him after it’s approved. They could well just be making a case to demonstrate manipulation and are playing the admin.

The media is neoliberal, incapable of doing real journalism because they like the perks and access that pretending they’re actual great journalists provides them.
