It’s absolutely correct to say and to leave it in. He didn’t seem threatening and yet he was. That is the most important lesson from the episode frankly

But isn’t that whole point? Get people to realise it could be anyone

I also miss that the premise of the show seems to have been left behind now. They used to keep someone in custody, for 24 hours and do the countdown to the work that goes on during that period. Now it just seems to be whichever case they have the best footage for

I'm glad you picked up on that because it made me feel icky. I also detested the use of generative ai for the faces in the new episode

I think that was her point though..in that anyone can do this type of crime not just the ones you think look sketchy. unconscious bias is a thing which we all do to some degree and her comment was meant to show we need to be aware of everyone

These two on the podcat are from a generation that will find offence in about everything they can. Pay no attention to them.

I work in the field and call out stuff like this all the time. It's a subconscious cultural bias so many people have. When asked about it they always go oh god yeah you're absolutely right, but absolutely something that needs improving and work is being done (albeit too slowly). The choice to leave it in was a weird one but I suppose it means these conversations are being had which can only be beneficial.

I would counter this, once you’ve done the job for a considerable period of time, you have a sense, an intuition, and rightly or wrongly there is a mould. It’s not the police being bias and ignoring offenders. Do the job and you will understand the comment made 🙂

It’s called unconscious bias.. so imagine what being from a different race and what the implications are for that 🤷🏽♀️

it's showing her bias. it's ripe for racial profiling and other bias. police THINK they have intuition but research shows people can't develop intuition about that sort of thing. it's just people self-justifying.

She was right tho. As someone who knew Craig he was one of the friendliest most bubbly people you could ever meet. You’d never look at him and think he did anything like that. I think her point was more that no matter what anyone can commit crimes like this.
