I love the allusions to Apokolips in this movie. The portals looked similar to book tubes, Ultraman had the big circular goggles that Parademons have.

Something interesting to think about here is this sets up Kon perfectly. Lex knows he failed with ultraman because it wasn’t really him. So he puts a bit of himself in the next clone, in the hopes of making a version of himself that’s super.

while that is true that's only the first reason you see Lex also has an idea of mistrust see because he sees himself that great and knows he isn't always morally correct for someone supposedly more evolved than him to come along and be the most geniune and good person most will meet it makes him skeptical after all power corrupts so why wouldn't it corrupt the superman?
