Nah. Getting older and more comfortable with being ND is liberating. I just get up and leave announcing ‘I’m going back to work’ or ‘I want to finish the job I was doing’. After the first shock and confusion filled time now most everyone follows. I had a team lead try and explain to me that it is his job to tell the team what to do. I pointed out work that needed doing and kindly asked him to do it and turned around and got back to work. He never tried again. The trick is to balance them between needing you and fearing you. 😂 I don’t need to be liked, I just need to do the job.

My boss once called me “one of our most dedicated employees” in front of investors. I instinctively interjected with “it’s obligation, not dedication.” She did not like that one bit.

I was in a meeting once and had not said one word. Toward the end my boss said, “Polly. You haven’t said anything. What are your thoughts.” I told him he really didn’t want to know what I was thinking but he kept pushing me. So I told him my EXACT thoughts. When I finished he sat there Loki g somewhat stunned and said, “Geez. Tell us how you REALLY feel.” I just did. 👍🏼 Anyway he never asked again.

I went to my disciplinary hearing with facts and truth the manager came with emotion and ego 😆 I'm going to be disciplined anyways but it's been 23 days since he adjourned it to work out things I brought with me ... I've had 23 extra days to prepare another 15 items I've found 🤣 on with his ego war for a fair and impartial hearing 🙄

HR discovered that I used to set my phone alarm to my ring tone and set it to 15 mins after an interview started. And if they put someone in front of me who wasn’t up to standard I’d fake answering a call and just leave. I don’t have enough time to waste it. She laughed, we then came up with a signal to close out the interview quick.

wow I say all this stuff, maybe its because I work in a workplace where I don't have to mask :) yes in lucky, yes i couch it in humour. FYI i work in finanical services and have had had 2 bosses say we know you're not gonna be on time but can you try and not be so late it affects others. They've also learnt to teams me if they need my attention as noise cancelling headphones + critical role mean Im not gonna hear them. Open honest communication post diagnosis changed my life for the better
