Even after that, I held on to alcohol — and it held on to me — dragging me through years of struggle and self-destruction. I tried to quit on my own and failed. I went to treatment centers and failed. I even found myself at a Christian recovery center where, for the first time, I felt what real sobriety could look like. I found faith. I found peace. But even then — I relapsed. Recovery, I’ve learned, is never a straight line. It’s a process. A lifelong one. And yet, here I am: — Nearly 10 years free of opiates — 8 years free of tobacco — 3 years sober from alcohol The turning point? Faith. I couldn’t have done any of this without the grace and strength I found in God. But even with faith, life isn’t perfect. I’ve faced days that nearly broke me — like losing my dog, or watching my wife battle serious illness. The pull to drink again was real. The pain was real. But I know that if I go back, I lose everything. I lose me. I lose the chance to keep doing what I was born to do: Run this show. Change the world. Rescue animals. Reach broken people. Offer real help. We don't argue about religion or politics on my platform. That’s not what we’re about. But I think it’s important for people to know this: You can go from prison to the pulpit.
