Weird question but could you use the honey packet ment for fun time for mead, would the effects transfer over or would they be lost during fermentation? Wired but hey honey is honey right?

I don't know if I remember correctly, but recently there was a family in Slovenia where the father was a beekeeper and stored honey in barrels for a really long time. When he passed away, they used that honey to make alcohol. Is that safe?
