Same! I get all this! I'm still this way at work. I get complex things but I don't realize I needed to always be seen at work like being seen doing the work matters.

I had a HS teacher pull me aside at the end of a semester and tell me "you didn't turn in a single piece of homework. you slept through 90% of the classes. you failed this class by nearly every interpretation of the syllabus. but you aced every test and when you were awake you had insightful contributions. I can't fail someone who either knows the material or can use limited info to piece together the answer so fast it doesn't matter. you're getting a B" and he was the only teacher, ever, who never even hinted that my ability to lose my homework the moment it was in my bookbag was a huge personal and moral failing. school *sucked* and it would have been so much more manageable just knowing the right dx

I don't think it's a black community thing, I think it's a female thing. most girls do go undiagnosed i have heard this from so many types of girls from different backgrounds, including myself.
