I think you can't limit communication with students especially if a child comes to you with a serious issue that is not related to course content.

so you have to be a mandated reporter and have a relationship with your student before contacting administration but you're not allowed to have any discussions which would allow that. what???? I don't know why I expect better from a country which screams "our children" but refuses to give them rights.

I’m an aspiring teacher, but during the summer I work as a cafeteria worker passing out free meals to students under the age of 18 I received an email discussing how we could not Interact with anyone under the age of 18 outside of school email. Another thing I wanna do is be a scout leader and host dungeons and dragons for kids who wanna learn but they want us to get a parent letter on file to the board for even this sort of communication. My immediate joke was that they were gonna have an entire filing cabinet dedicated to me. not to mention I just in general I play online games are geared towards. Younger children so that I can incorporate them in my lessons.

Ok they’re just throwing John Dewey’s theory of Experiental learning out the window?! Wow. God forbid they make curriculum relevant to the students. (I’m taking the Praxis PLT 7-12 test tomorrow and this very subject came up just now while I was studying lol. Thank you Mama Owl for helping me here lol)
