@mattrieck: Video 440 Salary Balancing for new hires. If your company hires new people in and then has to pay them a higher rate to recruit them, they need to adjust the teams salary to match the new hires because: 1. There are now laws against disciplining employees for salary discussion, so it’s going to come out. 2. When the people training the new people make less they will find out and be furious. 3. You will have turnover and ruin your company culture with this behavior. Be transparent, be real, adjust salaried to make it fair. Do it before the new hire starts, not after it’s already a problem. Disagree? Let’s hear it, I will be happy to argue about this one. #salary #compensation #mattrieck #transparency #companyculture
my only rule is, if you make more money than me, dont ask me anything. you better already know it.

I had a guy get hired for the exact same position as me 6 months later with a higher rate and a sign on bonus. I contacted my union and it's totally legal. 💩💩💩y, but legal.

Sorry but if Sally is making 85k and you have 5 yrs experience over Sally? You shouldnt be moved up to 85k match, you should be moved to 85k+ 3% increments 5 times. So fairness would be 98.5k. Why should someone with 5 yrs experience and loyalty to a business be matched at someone brand new? Tired of that bs

I'm one of the top performers in a huge company. The company just recently did a pay compression and brought my counterparts up to my pay level. I have 25yrs more experience with this company than most of then. I used to work as many hours it took to get the job done, now they get the minimum out of me. Sucks when you don't feel valued.

There is no loyalty from the companies anymore. I've got over 18 years invested and found out that the new guy is making more than me. So it just shows me that they don't care.

If I’m training you, I better be making a much bigger salary than you. If not, I will train you, but it won’t be the correct way.

thats why my husband got force quit from a company. when he started he was making almost $5 over minimum wage. 2015. in 2023 he was making less than $0.50 over. new guy got hired at $2 over. hubby only found out because he wanted to ask and did. then threatened to leave. they raised him then 6m later found a bs reason to call him in, hand him 6 write ups at once, transferred his security site 100 miles away. which forced him to quit and unemployment refused to look at it as unreasonable expectation. for clarification, in summer that was a 2hr drive each way, 12hr shift. in winter it was 3-5hr drive each way.

Sen at my job two years. No raises. Not even cost of living raise. I got told that I agreed to that salary when I got hired. Yes that’s true but generally, you would think that they would at least give me the cost of living raise each year.
