Ugh I probably would’ve handled it the exact same way in the moment because I’d be so caught off guard. But ideally would’ve said no, not taken the ticket and told the bartender to tell him what he wants but that doesn’t change the truth. Bartender could’ve been joking too but considering you’re new you don’t know his personality yet. I think I’d take the ticket with me to work and if I saw the man that bought it I’d just give it back and politely say I can’t accept it but thank him for the gesture. 🤷🏼♀️

I mean, I'm not a woman so I can't say how you feel. however a $200 meal for a 10 minute conversation is a very fair trade-off. instead of men going to a bar and just offering women drinks and the women just walking off, men should say can I buy you a drink in exchange for a 5 minute conversation? It sets better expectations and saves men from spending money on women that aren't even remotely interested.

I’m closest to the older guy in this scenario. I don’t drink, so I can’t relate there, but otherwise… To me, the bartender is a sleeze.He shouldn’t put you in that spot. Remove that, and if the guy were cute (enough) and not sloshed, thanking him is cool as long as he put no other expectations on it.

I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this. Women working in hospitality are put in these situations all the time, and it’s awful. It’s part of why I have changed industries. I’d have spoken to the manager on duty, and asked them to go tell the guy thank you, but no thank you. Managers should be responsible to smooth out and handle these types of situations. I’ve had to have these conversations with predatory men on behalf of my staff before- twice telling men they won’t be permitted to return if they did it again.
