@bcfxo: Okay but let’s talk about it… because I used to be so deceived in thinking that once I was delivered from something, I never had to deal with it and it would never come up again. SIKE! I saw this show up the most in lust. The thing about lust is it’s a perverted version of what God originally made to be true. It is natural to have an attraction to someone of the opposite sex, it is natural to want to be intimate with your partner, but this design was meant to happen within covenant. I prayed and fasted and asked the Lord to deliver me from lustful thoughts, and I was sorely mistaken when I thought that the problem was completely fixed and that I no longer needed to pray or put on the full armor of God when it came to this topic. Do I believe in the laying on of hands and deliverance ministry? Absolutely. But that mountain top moment is just that—a moment. And if you leave yourself vulnerable and exposed, and you’re not continuing to fill your mind with the word of God, surround yourself with community to help keep you accountable, and walk out that truth every single day… you’ll find yourself right back where you started. And thennn comes the condemnation, guilt, and shame because you think to yourself “I thought I was better than this! I thought I overcame this!” Whole time, you are brushing it under the rug instead of continuing to bring it to the light and surrender every single thing to the Lord—every single day. That’s why scripture calls us to a sober mind, not just from drugs and alcohol but from our own thoughts, emotions, and ego as to not boast or become prideful in our own strength or understanding.
