I do agree with you when people don't follow said religion. but I find a lot of western arguments often try to impose themselves onto people that follow Eastern religions like sikhi, Hinduism or Buddhism. at which point I feel like the opposite is true. those religious philosophies become important context for the discussion

Well from a moral perspective ppl can align their morals with anything, and their view on the concept of a higher intellect which is the human understanding of god, then that’s still valid bc everyone gets has their moral perspective shaped by numerous things

Most moral arguments made by the Catholic Church do not require a belief in God to be persuasive. Reading its objection to birth control/abortion in the 60’s in the document Humanae Vitae it gives well reasoned arguments against it and its negative impact on women and men that have turned out to be prophetic.

I guess but at the end of the day it just comes down to what a person values. Someone ignorant enough to not value statistics will not be moved when you use them in a debate. It’s not don’t debate using scripture but don’t debate with something that holds no value to the other person.
