I work in Zoo medicine. it's a little bit different but I have never ever had a vet recommend to let a dog or any other animal "go" on their own. Dying of natural causes in most cases is not a pleasant death and I don't know a single vet that would recommend it over a humane euthanasia surrounded by loved ones...

Of course the anger is misplaced. All these comments. To some of us that’s the same love as our family. He is grieving. Has every right to grieve. I’m a hospice nurse and family misplaces grief with me at times. He is hurt and deserves compassion. Not shaking his hand cause he can’t handle touch right now. But I see grief yall see disrespect but I’m also trained in it. So is this officer. He sees lots of hard things too and probably understands

Yall he’s not being disrespectful. He’s trying to stand up for the right thing. I’ve heard this horror story from clients I used to work with. It does happen without consent. Also scanning a chip doesn’t bring up owners info. You have to call the chip manufacture to get the owners info and some vets won’t even go that far.

As a vet tech ive never heard of a doctor that would tell an owner not to euthanize a dog and to let it die on its own if the dog was declining🤔 seems like the dog was not healthy or in good condition.Also microchipping the dog would have avoided all of this .

The pain in his voice is so heartbreaking and he has the right to be angry about it cause they had no right to put his dog down. I would be the same way if it happen to one of my dogs. Lawsuit against the vet

this why most vets and shelters have a 10day hold. during such time they try to find the owners. after 10 days the animal in question is legally theirs

Brother. It’s a civil issue. Take your anger out on the Vet clinic. Get a lawyer and express your concerns to the judge.
