if animal control picked up a "stray dog in sad shape" with out tags, or microchip then they will go ahead and humanely euthanize the animal. because a shelter has a certified vet verify the debilitating conditions of the animal. they don't base it off of hope and emotion. my heart hurts for you and the time lost, but as a vet tech we put the animals quality of life first.

Cop is doing a good job, I was all with the guy in the other end until about halfway when he said “no, I don’t want to speak to them, why would I blah blah blah”. Work with them, he is trying to help you. And he just basically said he’s searching for a payday lol

“If we wanted our dog put down we would have put her down 3 weeks ago.” The only thing this family was robbed of was having them and their kids watch how HORRIFIC it is to watch a dog “pass at home” it’s not peaceful it’s agonal for the pet. Clearly this dog was not well since his own vet said “let em pass at home” which is only something a vet says to an owner when they realize that an owner CANNOT accept peaceful euthanasia

Is everyone missing the fact that he took the dog to the vet 3 weeks ago and the vet told him to let the dog go when she was ready? How do yall know the dog was “healthy or not suffering” at the time. Did the dog have a tag on it? Was it microchipped? was their another piece of something identifying the owners? How long was the dog out? How long did the vet hold the dog to look for an owner? Yall are real quick to jump to conclusions and blame the vet, but the dog got out of the owners property to start the whole cycle of events.

As vet tech a vet is not allowed to put down a “stray” animal control should have done their job picked up the dog. When you take a stray animal to a vet office the only thing we can do is scan for a microchip. By Law animal control is a an extension of the law. So the people who found the dog or the vet should have contact animal control. This is not ethical and the vet who did it should be ashamed of themselves.

maybe you should of been a better owner and not let your dog get out. My dogs have never gotten out. accidents happen but still falls on the owner, plus it's clear your dog already had underlying health issues so the vet probably ended it's suffering.

I would sue and I would also want charges pressed for animal, cruelty, animal, negligence, animal, abuse, so many charges on everyone’s record in that office that they will be blacklisted from any veterinary hospitals in all 50 states

1. There is a MANDATORY stray hold period. 2. If it is "inhumane" to keep the animal alive for a stray hold, a veterinarian must be consulted.

Dude make up your mind the cop is trying to help u your going from I want to speak for theses answers to I don’t want answers I want accountability. First u need answers I feel like with the dogs age and if there was an injury or the dog had a heat stroke this could have influenced why they choose to euthanize the dog
