@mylifeisanrpg: Replying to @clementine I have no idea why I have to explain this I was pretty clear in the original video. #nintendo #dkbananza #mylifeisanrpg
redundant currency is the most painful gaming creation

it's like how 100 coins auto gives you a 1 up in Mario. it doesn't make you go into a shop to buy a 1 up. just gimme the 1up

its like if ocarina of time had certain areas with 4 heart fragments, and you had to find a specific vendor in that area to get the full heart and he only accepted the fragments from that area. its unnecessary extra steps that would just become a tedious existence in the game.

so the formatting is the issue? have 5 items to collect and once u get em you go collect the reward on the map, instead of collect the reward in a shop? either way the end point is the same , collect x items , trade them in for a reward. i dont see how thats different that finding it on the map. the fact u have to go to a shop to trade them in doesn’t change the collect x items get reward aspect. in oddssey, if they js gave me the world costume after i got the 100 purple coins ig thatd be cool, but going to the lil shop is also cool

Question, are they treated as solely individual currencies or ingredients? Do you need multiple different fossils in various combinations to buy different items or is everything item only bought with one kind of fossil?

My woke gaming take is this is intentional to normalize spending money on in game curency to buy things

I think this is a valid complaint. very minor issue, but valid. I think they really just wanted to lean into the feel of having different currencies to make the travel feel unique. your suggestion would probably be better for my ux perspective, but not from a design perspective

The chips can later be traded for something else (forgot what) and the big fossils do have a (mainly psychological) reason to be handled that way. This way you’re not “missing out” if you don’t already have the lvl 2 of the respective equipment.

Have banandium gems turn into bananas as soon as you get enough, have big fossil upgrades just cost multiple small fossils, and replace big fossils with a hoard of small fossils. That allows them to maintain the same value, but gives the freedom to spend your hoard on several smaller upgrades, or save up for the big upgrade through several small fossils without needing to find the hoard.

wait so is it like DK64? I hadn't seen anything of it but I assumed it was more of a DKC style game.

like either if they are JUST collectibles or collectibles that you use as currency, ur still doing the same thing of collected X amount until u unlock something, so i dont see the issue lmao

I’d rather it not stop to tell me I unlocked a pair of pants miles away from the location where I can put them on or stop to give me a banana every time I get enough bananadium chips, especially since you get a lot of them from combat.

So they just add an extra step for literally no reason? I could see how that would be insanely frustrating. I could also see how the lower IQ folks would completely miss the point.

to me I think it's even more silly to break a massive fossil and be given a clothing item instead of a fossil
