siblings dynamics 101 : siblings are best friends that hate each other and use each other to push the boundaries to learn what is and isn't appropriate human behavior in society which is why they hate one another because they are both bad at being human and are stuck in a crucible together. At least that was my experience hope this helps lol

here's some tips that are a little different from the others in these comments (as someone who has two younger brothers, and is also a writer): 1. consider their childhood! how were the siblings raised, and how did their parents treat them. consider how their parents might treat one sibling differently than the other. does one sibling notice and recognize the different treatment? how does that sibling empathize with their sibling in that way? this allows you to think about the ways in which the siblings are allies or competitors. ✨ 2. not all sibling dynamics are the same! sure there are similar themes depending on age differences and gender roles, but not every pair of siblings follow these stereotypes. try to instead label a sibling relationship dyamic with one word to help you stay grounded to the core of their relationship. I like to use words like "supportive" or "jokesters" for positive relationship dynamics, and "distant" or "strained" for more negative relationship dynamics. ✨3. sibling relationships change over time! they don't just have to be one thing. consider what each sibling might need from their friendships and relationships, and evaluate whether or not their siblings are meeting those needs! ✨4. people treat their siblings differently when other people are around. how does your character treat their siblings when their friends are around, what about when grandma's visiting? consider who will see the interactions! ✨
